GMC Sierra 1500
The GMC Sierra 1500 line of products has its origin many years back. In 1975 GMC begain using the name Sierra in their line of pickups. The beginning of the more modern line began in 1981 and ran until 1987. From here GMC took the next changes from 1988 through 1998. The most common engine for these trucks during these years was the 5.0 or 5.7 liter V8 engine. Usually this engine was connected to a four-speed automatic transmission.
The years 1999 to 2006 made some great improvements which included a new line of V8 engines. The size of the new engines ran from 4.8 liters to 6.0 liters with output from 255 to 345 horsepower.
The newest Sierra 1500 series began in 2007 and again made great improvements over the older models. One of the big changes occurred in the cab. The cabs went from rather plain and drab to plush and nice. Also you could go from a basic work truck to a top of the line Denali which provides all the amenities.
The current line of 1500's comes with V6 and V8 engine options. You can get horsepower output from 195 to 403 horsepower. All models come with either rear or 4-wheel-drive and usually have the 4 speed automatic transmission. The only exception to the transmission options are the Denali that has a six-speed.
