How to Deduct Rental Car Costs From Your Income Tax

without comments

Car and truck renters today are frequently asking themselves the question “Can I deduct rental car costs on my income tax?” The reason for this is that legislation is going crazy in the implementation of taxes on car & truck rentals. This has made the car rental companies most unhappy to say the least.

There is a group that has been formed, it is called the Coalition against Discriminatory Car Rental Excise Taxes. In over 80% of the states in the USA there are more than one hundred different types of taxes relating to car and truck rental. Way back in the 1990′s there was a only a tenth of such taxes.

In Maine, the inhabitants there were able to for a while prevent an increase of 10-12.5 % increase in the taxes when renting a car or truck. This suited all parties associated with car rental, obviously not the law makers as they did not receive their taxes.

Taxes can be as high as twenty percent imposed on rentals. Large corporations are paying amounts close to $5 million annually in car rental taxes.

These car rental taxes are legislated so that cities can meet their budgets. There is widening hole in the budget and deficit forces theses taxes to be imposed. Whilst this is understandable it does not make sales for car rental companies any easier. They do not want to perceived as in the tax collection business and the increased prices due to the tax has reduced sales. The Coalition against Discriminatory Car Rental Excise Taxes was formed three years ago and consists of eight car rental groups and the National Business Travel Association. Apart from fighting against legislation on taxes they also educate consumers on the taxes.

5% tax is what you will pay when you hire a car in New Jersey. This very tough as they are already paying five dollars daily in various types of taxes.

Wisconsin charge more than three times their New Jersey counterparts. They have a mass transit project that needs funding and this is the reason for the exorbitant taxes.

It is reported by the coalition that the they want to increase tax by two and a half dollars in Michigan. The taxing just seems to go on and on.

Rail projects need funding in the state of Florida. They are trying to increase taxes there by two dollars and this would increase the current tax levied by a whopping fifty percent!

It is generally accepted by people outside of the coalition and consumers that the taxes are needed for all the various projects. The coalition fiercely fights against the taxes.

Like the rest of the world the USA has been devastated by the world recession. The state of the economy in the USA is in tatters and this is the main reason for all these taxes.

Sometimes money is allocated to a certain project and when the project is completed that money is no longer available for the project. It all of a sudden gets allocated elsewhere. No wonder consumers ask ” can I deduct car rental costs on my income tax?

A wide selection of reliable auto vehicles is provided to satisfy your needs for a rental car. Choose from economy, standard and intermediate sizes, including pickup trucks, for your next car rental Toronto.

Towing Services Are Economical And Essential

without comments

Everyone has witnessed the aftermath of accidents when the battered cars are towed away by tow trucks. The benefits of these towing services are many.

The crime rate is growing rapidly and the prospect of being alone in the evening walking through a dark stretch of highway is frightening. Women especially are vulnerable when they are driving alone or with children through an isolated area. We would love to all be constantly protected from both hidden and obvious dangers at all times but, the reality is, we are not.

A number of situations arise in ones lifetime where you may need the services of a towing company. If you are in an accident and the car is damaged extensively then you will need to find the nearest towing company which can be a hassle. The company may be expensive and you may not be carrying enough to cover the costs. Getting your car to the garage and getting it fixed may cost you the same as getting it towed to the mechanic in the first place.

If your car breaks down suddenly then you may also need to contact towing services. Cars are vulnerable to time and parts erode over the years. Your car may break down at anytime for numerous reasons and most of the time it happens when you least expect it. Finding a mechanic close by may not be an option.

A mechanic’s shop may be too far out and you will need to find some emergency road services to help transport your car, which is an added cost to getting your car fixed and up and running again. You can avoid this hassle if you have a plan in advance where you get roadside assistance and it includes the price of towing at a reasonable rate.

Roadside assistance plans offer a number of services that are included in the monthly fee. The fee is reasonable and it prevents you from having to pay a hefty sum all at once in case of an emergency. The fee includes a variety of services besides towing such as offering to come and fix your flat tire anywhere you may be. It also includes various other benefits like bringing you a battery in case of a failure.

The roadside plan helps you out of most auto related issues. They will help you if you run out of gas suddenly or get locked out of your car. Every time such incidences happen you would have had to pay a huge amount for towing services and finding a lock smith at odd hours. Having a road side plan will take into consideration all situations where you may be helpless and stuck with your car. They will help you in every emergency situation moving your car safely and securely.

Keep in mind the numerous emergency situations you may find yourself in and realize that anyone may need towing services at any point in time. Having a decent roadside assistance plan will ensure that you get help swiftly and economically.

There comes a time when you need roadside assistance during an automotive crisis. Consult with the Abrams Towing in Mississauga for more information on responsive, resourceful, and reliable emergency road service.

Do You Need Towing Services?

without comments

Whenever an inoperable vehicle needs to be moved from point a to point b, towing services can come to the rescue. They should have the equipment to safely move the vehicle without causing further damage to it or other property. There may be situations where you need towing Toronto.

Vehicles can become inoperable when they have mechanical problems. Sometimes, it is only a small problem such as a starter motor going out that causes the vehicle to not run. Other times it may be a major problem such as a blown engine or the transmission going out of the car. In either case, a tow truck is able to lift the drive wheels of your automobile and get it from your home to the repair shop where it can be put back in running condition.

An automobile accident can result in a car that cannot be driven. Even if the auto is damaged to the point that it cannot be repaired, it can normally be loaded onto a truck and transported to a storage yard until the insurance company can make their determination and help you to get a replacement.

If you are driving in poor road conditions, it is possible that you can lose control of your vehicle and end up in a ditch or snow bank. While your auto is still operable, you are unable to get the needed traction to get that vehicle on the road. In this case, you may need winch out services to get your vehicle unstuck and back on the road.

There are also times that business owners need towing services. If you have problems with vehicles that do not belong to customers or unauthorized vehicles being left in your parking lots, many of these services offer impound towing. The service will place warning signs on your property and make regular patrols after business hours to enforce your parking policy. If a car or truck is violating the policy, it is impounded and the offending automobile will be impounded. The owner must then pay towing and storage in order to get a vehicle back.

Unfortunately, during times of economic hardship, some lenders are having to employ the services of a tow truck to repossess a vehicle when the lender is unable to keep up with the payments. While neither the lender nor the vehicle owner want this to happen, it is often the only way for the lender to retrieve the collateral on a loan.

When a vehicle needs to be transported, the safest way is often for it to be winched onto a truck so that all four wheels are safely on the bed of the truck. Most of the trucks have a bed that may be hydraulically inclined and lowered to form a ramp. Once your vehicle is on the ramp, the ramp can be moved back into position and your vehicle can be secured into place. This will prevent damage to the transmission of your car.

In an ideal world, you would not need towing services, however in the world in which we live, you will be glad that they are there when you have difficulties and need to have a vehicle moved.

Are you in Missisauga or Toronto and in need of towing services? Don’t let yourself get caught unprepared! Find out more about towing Toronto and towing Mississauga before you need it.

White Vans And The Police

without comments

It would seem that the white van is the main van that the police track for criminal activity but why is this?

Well to start with, over the past few years the white van has been the accomplice to many criminals from burglaries and theft to abductions and even rape. Why is it that so many criminals choose a white van over the thousands of other vehicles out there?

Well over the years the vehicle of the criminal has changed and it would seem that the modern times have chosen the white van. Here are some of the vehicles that have been top of the criminals most wanted list over the past century.

Ford V8 B-400

This is of course the most famous of the criminal cars because it was the model that the famous outlaws Bonnie and Clyde used to rob banks, small stores and gas stations. If you take a look at this car you automatically think mafia or of the guys from wacky races.

1966 Chevrolet Impala

This was the choice of a deadly serial killer back in the 1960’s. The killer has not been found and the car still stays hidden too so he is either very clever or sat somewhere very far away. He preyed on people at night who within in a car themselves. It was reported by several victims and also drawn out several times. He murdered five people and attempted to do it to another seven.

So as you can see the times change and criminals choose a specific vehicle for the horrific and unforgiving crimes that they commit. The van seems to be chosen because it is suitable for any criminal activity which is the only downside to the vehicle.

Of course the plus side is that the van has helped out thousands perhaps even millions of people in their everyday lives. van leasing has helped even further by providing affordable means of getting hold of a van. Citroen van leasing and Mercedes Van Leasing are just some of the options out there to choose from.

Campervanning Without The Hitches

without comments

Lots of people dream of making it happen, though much fewer actually follow through with it. Packing up a campervan with all your essentials, saying goodbye to friends and family, and hitting the open road with only a vague idea of where you are going and for how long. Once you’ve been on one campervan holidays you’ll likely go on many more as they are amazing fun, but if its your first time, what are the most vital things to sort.

Van. There have been some nightmare stories of people failing to taking out reliable cheap van lease deals and the van dying within the first few miles. You don’t want this happening to you so you should either buy a van that has been checked out by a professional or hire a van from a reputable company. Mercedes van leasing is an excellent option as these vehicles are sturdy and will rarely cause you any problems, but it is still a good idea to check them thoroughly before setting off just to make certain everything is working OK.

Money. You may think that you have budgeted for every eventuality, but you really can never know what is going to happen. You should take money for the obvious such as food, gas and entertainment, but it’s worth having some back up. It makes a lot of sense to keep some cash for emergencies and things that you can’t plan for, such as having to pay for a new windscreen after a bird decides to try and fly through it. It is also worth taking a credit card for times when you need to get your hands on larger sums of money.

Time. So you’ve got your Citroen van leasing sorted, you’ve packed it all up, now all you need is a relaxed state of mind. There is no point trying to keep to a strict time plan and itinerary because on camper van holidays you are at the will of many different factors, including traffic, weather and a whole of other things. If you stop worrying about time, you’ll enjoy your trip a whole lot more.

The Expense of Fueling Transport Van Is Too Much For Some Companies

without comments

Being forced to heavily reevaluate their business models is something that UK and American companies are accustomed to, after the price of petrol shot up last year. Those companies that had transport operations felt the pressure more than most and it was common to see vehicle fleets reduced by more than half.

Fleets may need to be reduced even further now and companies pushed even closer towards breaking point as the government announces predicted further cost increases in the coming months. This flux in prices is causing many companies a large amount of grief as they cannot accurately plan their profits and losses. “Each time we plan out our business for that quarter, petrol prices are put up and our costings go out of the window” says Barry Hemstone, MD of RDA Foods. Over 20% of all American transport-based businesses were forced to cease trading in 2008, and the figure is thought to be something similar in 2009 also.

Many people and businesses are on their last legs right now and the last thing they need is an increase in their overheads. “We are being crippled” argues Fiona Potter, who runs a small furniture chain in the UK. Our customers expect their furniture to be delivered to them, which is something that is becoming financially unviable for us now. Lots of businesses like this found some salvation in cheap van leasing to try an reduce their outgoings. This is because van leasing enables businesses to not buy their vans outright and so this is a useful option if cash-flow is poor. An interesting point to note is that Citroen van leasing has come out on top this year in terms of popularity, largely due to the high miles per gallon figures they offer. LDV van leasing has also been a strong choice as their reliability is thought to save companies large amounts of money in reduced maintenance costs.

Experience The Family Oriented 2008 Honda Odyssey

without comments

The 2008 Honda Odyssey is a fine example of the popular minivan vehicle. It is ideal for carrying the whole family, the shopping, the family dog or your tools of trade.

The Odyssey features a 3. 5L, V6 engine to produce 244 hp; all the power you need from this type of vehicle. In some models, the EX-L and Tourer, a cylinder deactivation device which shuts down cylinders when the vehicle is cruising, to improve fuel economy. This is hardly noticeable as you are driving however, and no obvious loss of power is felt.

The Honda Odyssey has the best fuel economy of any of the minivans on the road, getting 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg along the highway. You will find the Odyssey drives really well with responsive steering and smooth handling. The small turning circle gets you out of tight places easily and quickly.

As well as superior handling and fuel economy, the 2008 Odyssey looks really good on the road. A few exterior changes were made to the 2008 model, including a redesign of the front end. The side mirrors have the convenience of memory, so bumping them out of place isn’t a problem.

Inside you will find there are several new convenience features that add to the driving experience. A reversing camera has been added to the rearview mirror, making reversing easier and safer. Even the base LX model comes equipped with power operated front and middle doors, airconditioning, a CD and MP3 player, adjustable steering column and cruise control.

The EX range has a powered driver seat and sliding doors, alloy wheels, additional storage and fully zoned climate control. The EX-L range adds leather trim, sunroof, heated front seats, satellite radio and a DVD to keep the passengers in the back entertained. Top of the range Touring also has Bluetooth, an upgraded audio unit and adjustable pedals for extra comfort.

Safety has always been a priority to Honda, and the Odyssey has several standard safety features. You can be assured of the safety of your family with traction control, antilock braking with brake assist, stability control, front airbags and side curtain airbags. In crash safety tests by the NHTSA, the Honda Odyssey rated the top 5 star score for both front and side impacts. The IIHS results were as impressive with the Odyssey again receiving the highest score all round.

There is a greater choice than ever for family vehicles but the 2008 Honda Odyssey comes out on top of the minivans and crossover models. The Odyssey combines the best of the minivan with an upmarket look and features to create a unique driving experience.

Truck Registrations Falling While Vans Level Out

without comments

The van and truck sector of the motoring industry is the latest to release some bad news. Figures for truck registrations in June show that the amount of registrations are still falling, however, the amount of van registrations is showing improvement.

The amount of trucks being registered has been falling month by month, however, the figures for June have shown the largest drop in registrations yet. With 2,761 trucks registered in June, this is a 47% decline in registrations from June last year.

As for the other part of the sector, the amount of van registrations has seen slight improvement. The amount of vans being registered reached 17,158 units. This sales figure shows a 40.1% fall in registrations from June 2008, however, this month on month fall is actually the smallest so far. These figures show that the number of vans being sold could be levelling out.

Renault was one of the manufacturers that did well in June. They saw a 78.5% increase in sales for their range of light trucks and vans during this June. One model that did well for them was the very popular Renault Trafic van. Renault have found the Trafic van to be their bestselling van to date, plus with it winning the 2009 Security award recently, the sales should continue to rise.

There are a series of factors that have affected the van and truck market. One reason is that many businesses are waiting to see if van and truck prices continue to fall before buying. Although the amount of companies buying vans is falling, the amount of van leasing companies buying vans is on the rise, this is because the companies that aren’t buying vans are choosing to lease vans instead.

Many companies are finding that getting out a Renault van lease is working out cheaper in the long run rather than buying a brand new van. So if you are looking for a Renault Trafic lease, you will often get a better deal because you are only paying monthly for the van, rather than paying a bulk sum for a new van.

So although many companies are not buying new vans and trucks, the amount being bought by leasing companies is rising to keep up with demand.

More Vehicles Than Ever Are Prone To EMP Attack

without comments

Results of a recent study revealved that in the UK, around 95% off all vehicles would be drastically damaged if they were in the blast zone of an electromagnetic pulse (EMP). Around 85% of all vehicles in the States would grind to a halt also. The research, which was commissioned by cable ties management producer Hellerman Tyton, showed that almost all cars would cease to work and cost thousands to repair if they were in an EMP blast zone.Whilst their are only a few countries that have access to this kind of technology, some have reported that EMPs with a 300 square metre blast zone have now been created.

Electromagnetic pulses work by generating such a large electrical current that it fries all semiconductor components in electrical devises beyond repair. What this means is that all semiconductor-reliant hardware, such as televisions and cell phones would have their internal system destroyed. Most cars now also include a large range of electrical systems to help them run and would lose function of all of its electrical connectors. As most of us are heavily reliant on vehicle for work and everyday life, the economy of an effected country would be hit hard. This is why a large number of countries are not only concerned about the technology but also looking into developing it themselves.

The conductors of the research also added that the government’s new vehicle scrappage scheme will soon add even more vulnerable cars to our roads. New cars rely more on electrical components that ever before. These developments may increase their functionality but at the same time they are becoming increasing fragile to electrical attacks.  Even the new LEDs being fitted to a lot of cars will no longer work if they are subject to an EMP burst. There is not a vast amount we can do to protect ourselves unfortunantly as their will also be an ever increasing demand for the newest technology to be put in our cars. We just have to hope a big EMP will never happen
