Driving Sunglasses – Info On
Sunglasses are very popular at this time, but sunglasseshave other advances as well. What is that relation between sunglasses and our safety when driving?
The sun is often a health and safety threat for drivers because of the hazards of poor visibility. Without a good pair of good driving sunglasses, you’ll develop eye weariness and headaches when traveling by car. On the other hand, with the right driving sunglasses, you can enjoy comfort and a real vision enhancement. Even with short exposures health problems may still occur because of the response of retina to the impact of radiations. Given the predominance of personal car transportation, driving sunglasses become a must have accessory.
The darkness of the lenses is not relevant for the anti-ultraviolet protection provided by the driving sunglasses. The efficiency of driving eyewear derives from the presence of UVA and UVB blocking filters that stop the radiations from getting in contact with the retina. Amber and melanin lenses seem to be the best for driving sunglasses becausethey provide good contrast and good terrain visibility while keeping the damaging UV spectrum away. Moreover, light reflection or glare impair one’s comfort when driving. Glare is reflected light and drivers are most exposed to it because it bounces from windshields or the windows of the other cars or it shines off bumpers.
Glare could even come from buildings, streets and sidewalks which is why polarized driving sunglasses work best. They reduce the eyestrain and improve the sight by the very blockage of the reflected light. Wraparounds are very popular sunglasses models too because the light cannot harm the eyes by entering at the top or sides. There are plenty of driving sunglasses to choose from, some more expensive than others. On the average, a pair of good driving sunglasses can be bought for around $100.
For lightweight models it is preferable to buy driving sunglasses with polycarbonate lenses. Glass is also commonly available and we cannot say that the weight this material adds to the frame is uncomfortable. The idea is that you should try the sunglasses before buying them, and here you have one good reason why you should not shop online. Online sources are rewarding for research, and you may even find great discounts, but what if the ordered driving sunglasses don’t fit? Then, you’ll have to send them back, get a refund or replace them, which will make things more difficult.

Check Your Car’s Tire Pressures With A Tire Gauge
Tire pressure gauges are an important tool used in checking air pressure in an automobile. These significant tools let you know how much air pressure is sitting in the tire. The air pressure in the tire is extremely important because any missing air or overage of air, in any of the tires, can cause your car to go out of control.
Inadequate air pressure, or too much in a vehicle’s tire, can bring your car careening out of control. When the tires are low, the car will jerk to the side that has more tire pressure. And, overfilling it can result in a drag of the vehicle’s steering to the side where the tires are less inflated. With this being said, it is very important to check to see the tire is filled to its needed PSI (pressure per square inch), but the same for all four tires. Therefore, if you are filling your tires 5 PSI, then you should do the same for all tires.
Not only is it dangerous to have too little pressure or a lot of pressure, it is also very dangerous to put air in your tires if you do not know what you are doing. When gauging the air inside a tire, you should do the following:
1. Read the manufacturer’s listed PSI you should fill the tires to. This listing is typically written on the outer wall of the tire. It is safe to inflate the tires no more than5 PSI less than what is suggested. But, it is never ok to inflate them any more than the specified PSI. The typical automobile’s tires usually take around 35 PSI. Though, to reduce the risk of being injured, it is suggested that you read the tire to make sure.
2. Aim your face away from the tire prior to checking the level of air. Hold the tool to the lip of the tire. Rearrange it until you do not hear any air escaping. Look at the gauge and record your findings.
3. If there is no reading, then it means you are almost completely out of air. If this is the case, inflate up to the maximum PSI.
4. Check the pressure again with the gauge. It should display something over 0 PSI once inflated passed about 10 PSI.
5. After this, fill as necessary to come close to the maximum PSI required for the tire. Again, it is not good to exceed the maximum listed PSI as specified by the tire manufacturer.
Not following the above steps when reading air with a gauge can result in injury. If a tire is inflated past the recommended PSI, it can burst, sending shrapnel in all directions. Most tires nowadays are made with metal belting to hold the rubber together. This steel can become a lethal weapon that can cause harm to you and people around you. People have been killed from over inflating automobile tires. You can seriously reduce the risk injury by protecting yourself and those around you.

The importance of mirrors in Road Safety
Did you know that each yeah over 1.2 million people across the globe die as a result of an accident on the roads. That equates to around 3,000 deaths per day of which 17% are minors. In addition to these fatality figures a further fifty million sustain injuries as a result of a road accident, a third of which are seriously injured.
And it’s not just the emotional cost that is brought to bare, it has been estimated that the financial cost globally of road traffic accidents is $518 billion. Low and medium income countries make up a disproportionate amount of the total injuries and fatalities – 85%
One way to help prevent deaths and injuries occurring is through the effect use of mirrors. There are a number of different mirrors that can aid in road accident prevention.
Firstly there are traffic mirrors which are usually placed either on tight bends or in areas where you cannot easily see if a vehicle is emerging, for example a fast moving stretch of road. Country roads are notorious for accidents as they tend to be built much narrower than conventional roads, as well as having a greater number of twists and turns. At night, the headlights become the safety mechanism, but during the day traffic mirrors can literally be a life safer.
Secondly there are driveway mirrors which, as the name suggests, should be installed on a driveway or any area where manoeuvring a vehicle might be difficult. They are sometimes just referred to as convex mirrors.
With a wider global usage of road safety mirrors it is likely that the number of injuries and deaths could be substantially reduced. Perhaps this would not be affordable for lower income countries but for the developed world the cost of installing a road safety mirror would be relatively small.
