Road Trip Essentials

without comments

Planning a long drive? If you are about to embark on a road trip with your children, check out these tips for keeping everyone happy when you’re on the road. Here are some ideas on what to take with you.

  • Frisbee – Frisbees are great for some quick exercise when making a stop.
  • Plastic boxes – Take one for each child to hold their supplies – the lid makes a great desk and the box makes for a quick tidy up. Fill with crayons, pencils, highlighters (these are great for word search games).
  • Puzzle books and coloring sheets – Bring along a selection of puzzle books and colouring books, alternatively you can print a few coloring pages and activity sheets online. At sites like Disney Coloring Pages you’ll find the best Disney coloring pictures simply click on the coloring sheet image you like and print.
  • Clean, fresh water – Several small bottles of water work better than a few large bottles. Use the water for drinking, a quick wash up, cleaning a scrape wound and so on.
  • Lightweight blanket – Take along a small child’s blanket for cuddling with at naptime, blocking the sun or to fold and use as a pillow.
  • Paper towels and wet wipes – For quick clean ups.
  • Snacks – Pack a lunchbox for each child that contains their favourite snacks.
  • Compass – This is great – the kids can help you to navigate and it’s a learning opportunity for them too.
  • Zip lock bags – These are handy for collecting items such as sea shells and fossils, storing food, wet clothes. Bring several different sizes.
  • Garbage bags – Use these to store any laundry and wet items such as bathers and generally to keep the car clean.

In addition to these items, you should always travel with the following: first aid kit, antiseptic handgel, tissues, sunscreen, sunglasses and hats and a change of clothes.

As you plan your route, ensure that you allow enough time for rest stops. Two hours of driving time, then a break, makes a good pattern for car travel with young children. Bon voyage!

Beat the Winter Blues with a Travel Trailer Vacation

without comments

While the winter months slowly roll by the thoughts of vacations tend towards the spring or summer. However, winter breaks are exactly what we all need to keep us rejuvenated and productive. While the December holidays are over, there are still quite a few months of winter perfect for playing. Take the time for a travel trailer vacation and your relationships and work performance will benefit.

Colorado has winter sports for every family. No matter how extreme you want to be, there’s something for everyone. If you’d rather sit back and be pampered, Colorado offers spas, natural hot springs and more. Want to see it all in one trip? The travel trailer is one of the best ways to experience Colorado.

The landscape varies from hills to mountains, cities to towns. Food and drink are made locally, with some of the best beers in the country and cuisine to match. If you’re on the hunt for the perfect snow conditions, then the travel trailer is the ideal way to jump from resort to resort to check out the best of Colorado.

With so many resorts in driving distance, it’s easy to take the travel trailer to Vail, Breckenridge, Copper and A-basin in a week’s vacation. Other resorts, like Steamboat Springs, CO are a little more remote, but have enough skiing terrain and tourist attractions to keep you entertained for more than a week. Vail offers huge views from the mountain, while in Aspen you better bring your designer clothes. Breckenridge is a little more quiet, but well suited to the nature lover, who wants to take in every flake. Steamboat Springs is known for its family friendly atmosphere.

Tired of seeing cloudy skies, head to California. Sunshine is on the menu every day. The landscape is dramatic in different ways from Colorado with hillsides covered in flowers, redwoods reaching up to the sky and an ocean that brings a salty sweetness to the senses.

From north to south, you can ski and surf in a single day. Yosemite National Park is open for skiing with minimal amenities and minimal crowds. Heading down the coast just outside of Santa Barbara, Carpinteria epitomizes relaxation with great restaurants, beaches and trails where dogs and children can run. At the southern end of California, theme parks entertain kids and adults alike. Bars, every type of food and enough eye candy for a lifetime await.

Surfers don’t want to miss Big Sur. When Yosemite National Park offers skiing, climbers flock to Joshua Tree for world class climbs.

No matter your preference; slopes dusted with champagne powder or views of the ocean that stretch into infinity, your travel trailer can take you there. Enjoy cold beers or hot toddies to celebrate the day and celebrate your life.

Be on your Way to a Perfect Journey: A Few Reminders

without comments

Summer is fast approaching and when that season comes in, a lot of people think of a ton of activities that they can do. Apart from being sporty, or going for a dip at the beach, people also feel that taking on a trip is also valuable. Even some people who usually focus on how they can make money feel the need to go out of town once in a while. To make certain that you’ll be able to carry on a stretched-out excursion, staying on track is a must.

From the very start, you should assess the automotive to be used during the trip or a better idea is to let a car specialist take a look into it for a more in depth analysis. The careful examination of automotive pieces such as the brakes and your vehicle’s air-conditioner is usually not without charge nevertheless, the process is vital for safety on the road.

One more advice is making sure that the tires of your vehicle are A-ok. Thirty to thirty two is the normal psi measurement that is recommended to be seen in a truck’s or a car’s wheels, plus, whenever you are on the road, it is a must to be geared up by having spare wheels at hand so you can face flat tire problems head on.

Next, learn how to change your auto’s flat tire. Remember that putting off learning the process of replacing punctured tires and actually having no idea how to do it at the time it happens is not advisable. A wise thing to do is to have a go at replacing your deflated wheel with a spare tire through the directions stated on your car’s owner guide. This is because being prepared is the secret to avoiding the frustration of having punctured wheels in a spot that is too far-off from gas stations or a route not frequently driven on by other automobiles.

Another tip is to always have H20 stored in your car. A water supply while you are traveling will not only help reduce the probability of an overheated vehicle, since it can also aid in quenching your thirst during a car breakdown.

Never disregard this advice: there is a need to have sufficient gas in your vehicle all throughout the excursion you are on. A vital thing to do is also to find out where the pumping posts and car repair shops are prior to taking your trip for you to have an idea where to go once your vehicle starts acting up. Never fail to remember to have tools handy and stuff meant to take care of any emergency so you can do something about dilemmas you may experience on the road.

Loads of people, whether they work in a corporate world, or are working from home, or are students on vacation, and so on, are aware of how much fun traveling can really be. If you want to be safe and sound while on your outing, abide by the set of rules stated as those were dished out to ensure a meaningful tour.
