Be careful when parking your car

without comments

A lot of the time we tend to park our cars in whatever space we can find, whether in a multi storey car park or at the huge supermarket car parks. With every other driver prowling the aisles for a vacant space you may need to act fast if you want to get that last free space. The trouble is that there are sometimes parking spaces that you should avoid as they could potentially be worse for crime or damage.

It may sound strange but you should consider where you park your car and the surrounding area as there are spots which are more dangerous to park, and this doesn’t necessarily mean parking in a bad neighborhood. Of course you should always park somewhere that is well lit, especially at night. And preferably if you are using a car park then you should look for those with security or CCTV cameras, just in case the worst should happen.

But common sense aside, there are still other situations you should be aware of, sticking with the supermarket scenario you want to steer clear of any trolleys left in the car park, as they can roll into your car which could cause scrapes or dents to your car on a windy day. If parking closely to a trolley park, you should also be aware that lots of people just push their trolleys back carelessly in the direction of the parked trolleys, without thinking about the cars parked nearby.

You should park with plenty of room either side of your car, for you and those parked either side of you to get in an out. Other drivers and especially young children may not be careful and can open car doors into the side of your car. Parking next to large 4x4s can be problematic as they may overlap into your parking space making it hard to get in and out of your car.

Sometimes we may run into trouble not through someone else’s fault but through our own ignorance such as forgetting to get a ticket from a pay and display machine. There are many times where we think that because we’re only going to the shop for a minute to pick up one or two things that we’ll be safe. Likewise, many people think that it’s ok to park on double yellow lines or in permit only parking bays for example and then get frustrated when they get a ticket or are clamped – this sort of thing is avoidable if you are a responsible driver.

Make sure you are aware of any parking restrictions wherever you park. There are normally signs indicating how long and when you can park in that space but they are not always clearly visible. Before leaving your car, make sure you are certain you are parked legally.

Make sure that you take care of your car when parking, if you’re looking for new or used car finance but don’t have a large budget then consider opting for car credit. There are companies that can arrange car loans to suit your personal situation.
