Honda’s Active Torque Transfer

without comments

During the 70s, Honda made an important player in the U.S.  Market with 2 of the most economic-minded cars – the bargain and Civic.  Come 1979, they introduced the Honda prelude.  This was the 1st try of the company to create a new kind of car that still possesses the trustworthiness and smart design, 2 values that make up the very core of Honda.  After over 20 years, this two-door vehicle became the main performance auto among Honda’s lineup.  But even though the Honda prelude was frequently built with Honda’s powerful engines, it wasn’t specified as a muscle car.  Rather, the prelude was built around drivability and handling and at the same time having power to stay competitive.

Thru its life, a number of complicated technologies for Honda were placed in the prelude.  A few of these include Honda’s Active Torque Transfer, four-wheel steering and fuel injection.  The Honda preface is also the 1st vehicle model of the company to get a VTEC, Honda’s trademark valve technology.

though the prelude was a smash during the 80s, consumer interest disappeared 10 years after.  In the future, the prelude was stuck in a $30,000 below tag price .  For a sporty coupe, this was too dear.  In addition, it does not have the total premium sports automobile feel.  By year 2000, the coupe market vanished and the preface was dropped by Honda.

A preface has two trim levels – Type SH and base.  Both levels have four cylinder 2.2 liter engine and VTEC together with a transmission of 5 gear manual.  There is also a four-speed automated transmission available.  In the beginning, the engine was ready to use 195 horsepower, but Honda did a power up to 2 hundred horsepower for the manual models.

Usually, the preface earned great commentary during its time.  It provided great handling and everybody who drove it adored the VTEC engine.  The negative feedback was generally directed at the prelude’s weird interior designed.  Nevertheless, it was a fave and appealing car.

Saving Gas What You Need To Know

without comments

Having your tire pressures checked is a brilliant idea on how to save gas when you drive. You don’t have to do it every day, but once a week is good enough, provided the tires are in good working condition, you will not be wasting money doing it. At least, you certainly aren’t spending as much inflating the tires are you would on gas when you have to refill do often.

I hear there are electric cars out in the market already. I personally read an extract last year in which Honda committed to flooding the market with this great new product. Great. As yet they may be too expensive for the likes of you and I to purchase, but not for too long. Get one when the time and tide are right, and save yourself the cost of gas from now till whenever.

Every part of your automobile engine is important. Any fault will force other parts to compensate, leading to burning more fuel. To save gas, you ought to keep a lid on that always.

Smaller cars tend to burn less gas because they don’t work as much to get about as the big cars have to. If you can manage it, you could try using smaller cars and save yourself the extra cost of keeping the bigger one on the road. Use the large vehicles only when you absolutely have to. It only makes sense, and you know it.

If you are not actually using them, lose whatever extra pounds your car may be packing. You could have some stuff in the trunk that you really do not use, and you could be carrying things on the roof of the car that need not be there. All that extra load is burning gas in a way you don’t want. You can do better without them.

2010 Hybrid Car Challenge

without comments

Honda has officially released the new Insight. The Insight is much cheaper than the Prius by a few grand. The Insight is now the least expensive hybrid out on the market in the U.S.

The Honda has a great system that will help educate the driver how to drive more economically and thus save fuel. The Honda has a driving setting that will either increase the performance of the vehicle or decrease the perfrmance in the hope of getting better fuel economy. The hybrid engine uses new technology called the IMA which provide assistance to the motor via an electric boost. Th IMA system is cheaper to manufacture, lighter than the original, and adds to the overall interior space. I-VTEC helps the Insight where power and efficiency is concerned. The Insight has some great accessories that can be added onto the base model such as: a Blue Tooth six-speaker sound system, rims, vehicle control assist, F-1 inspired paddle shifters, and a navigation system. The goal of Honda is to make the Insight the top dog in the hybrid market, and this would entail selling more cars then the ever populat Prius.

On the other side of the coin, the Toyota Prius has a 160 horsepower 1.8 liter engine uses 3 modes of operation. The EV mode allows the Prius to run on battery power alone, the ECO mode’s responsibility is to ensure the optimum gas mileage is obtained, and then the Power Mode give more power and throttle response.  The Prius also has a PCS, Pre- Collision System, available.Adaptive Cruise Control uses a laser to keep the same distance between your car and the car infront of you, and the Prius will automatically apply brakes if needed. The Prius also includes a new touch sensor system on the steering wheel to ensure safe driving.

Even though the Insight has won the batlle of the price tags, the Prius still has a better MPG rating.Right now the MPG ratings for the new Insight are at 40 MPG in the city and 43 MPG on the highway, and the Prius comes in at 48 MPG city and 45 MPG on the highway.  So, if you commute 20,000 miles per year (and gas costs .50 a gallon), so driving the Insight would cost over 00 in fuel a year whereas the Prius would cost just over 00. When you drive a Prius, the amount of gas saved compared to an Insight is about 53 gallons, so to cover the lower price you would have to drive for 27 years. The Toyota Prius does net a better MPG rating, yet the Honda is a better value due to its cheaper MSRP!

Buy a Hybrid in Southern California, or buy a Used Toyota Hybrid .  Jazel Auto Builds the Best Car Dealer Websites around.

Experience The Family Oriented 2008 Honda Odyssey

without comments

The 2008 Honda Odyssey is a fine example of the popular minivan vehicle. It is ideal for carrying the whole family, the shopping, the family dog or your tools of trade.

The Odyssey features a 3. 5L, V6 engine to produce 244 hp; all the power you need from this type of vehicle. In some models, the EX-L and Tourer, a cylinder deactivation device which shuts down cylinders when the vehicle is cruising, to improve fuel economy. This is hardly noticeable as you are driving however, and no obvious loss of power is felt.

The Honda Odyssey has the best fuel economy of any of the minivans on the road, getting 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg along the highway. You will find the Odyssey drives really well with responsive steering and smooth handling. The small turning circle gets you out of tight places easily and quickly.

As well as superior handling and fuel economy, the 2008 Odyssey looks really good on the road. A few exterior changes were made to the 2008 model, including a redesign of the front end. The side mirrors have the convenience of memory, so bumping them out of place isn’t a problem.

Inside you will find there are several new convenience features that add to the driving experience. A reversing camera has been added to the rearview mirror, making reversing easier and safer. Even the base LX model comes equipped with power operated front and middle doors, airconditioning, a CD and MP3 player, adjustable steering column and cruise control.

The EX range has a powered driver seat and sliding doors, alloy wheels, additional storage and fully zoned climate control. The EX-L range adds leather trim, sunroof, heated front seats, satellite radio and a DVD to keep the passengers in the back entertained. Top of the range Touring also has Bluetooth, an upgraded audio unit and adjustable pedals for extra comfort.

Safety has always been a priority to Honda, and the Odyssey has several standard safety features. You can be assured of the safety of your family with traction control, antilock braking with brake assist, stability control, front airbags and side curtain airbags. In crash safety tests by the NHTSA, the Honda Odyssey rated the top 5 star score for both front and side impacts. The IIHS results were as impressive with the Odyssey again receiving the highest score all round.

There is a greater choice than ever for family vehicles but the 2008 Honda Odyssey comes out on top of the minivans and crossover models. The Odyssey combines the best of the minivan with an upmarket look and features to create a unique driving experience.
