How Many Amateur Radio Licenses Are There
Ever since the start people began forming organizations, being lured by ham radio technology. Unlike CB radio amateur radio allows you to transceive with incredible power, up to 1000 watts.. The wavebands available are wider and less crowded, broadcasting can be made via AM, SSB, FM radio-teletype, even television. Satellites act as relay stations you can talk to the far corners of the globe. The thing to remember is that ham radio is licensed and there are examinations you must to complete before you can acquire the license.
There are many different types of amateur radio license available.
The Novice level license gratns access to some HF bands and SSB broadcasting between 28.3 and 28.5 MHz and between 28.1 and 28.3 for radio teletype. To access these frequencies all you need is a 10 Meter Radio even though these radios are commonly referred to as a 10 Meter CB Radio they are actually quite different as a CB radio does not require you to have a license and a 10 Meter Radio does. SSB and FM broadcasts are allowed between 222.01 and 223.91 MHz and 1270 to 1295 MHz.All it takes to achieve a Novice license is a simple radio theory exam and the ability to do Morse code at 5 words per minute.
Getting a Technicians license gives access to the VHF and UHF bands.~The Technicians license means that you can now transmit on the UHF and VHF frequencies. To get the Technicians license all you need to do is answer questions about FCC requirements and complete a radio theory exam.
Next after the Technicians Class is the General Class. The General Class aloows access on HF and UHF across the spectrum and even a couple television frequencies. To achieve this level of license you need to be able to transmit Morse code at a rate of 13 words per minute and pass tests on general radio theory and FCC requirements.
If you can complete a more advanced radio theory test the Advanced Class license grants access to even more frequencies.
The pinnacle ham radio license is the Extra license class. Receiving the Extra Class Licence means you are granted access to every channel relegated to amatuer radio broadcasters. This license is not easy to obtain you need to take a test on advanced radio theory and operate Morse code quickly.
The American Radio Relay League is a non profit organization that assists amatuer radio broadcasters complete their exams by distributing all the information you may need.
If you dont enjoy the inconvenience and time it takes to complete all those examinations try CB radio. CB radio has always been the option for people that dont want to bother with testing.. CBers tend to be a little more relaxed and amusing. All you require is the right equipment. Sound fun?
