Get Ready for Xbox’s Mass Effect
Not only was the first Mass Effect labeled the best game of 2007, but it is still said to be the best RPG in the history of games. When we finished the first Mass Effect, we wanted more. It had one of the best endings; those of us that played the game would agree that Mass Effect had some of the best characters. Not only were the characters deep, but they remained in your mind long after the game was completed. It is games like Mass Effect that get sales up for the Xbox 360 and it is Mass Effect that earned Bioware lots of money.
If you’ve played the first incarnation, Mass Effect, on Xbox in recent years, you probably still have the game saved. However, if you had this game, loved it, and deleted it, it’s going to make you a little bit sad to know that you’re going to missing out on something pretty amazing, indeed.
To those that still have the first Mass Effect saved file, hang on to it until early next year when Mass Effect 2 is released for the Xbox 360. Mass Effect 2 will import your Mass Effect character saved game and you will start Mass Effect 2 at the same point you finished the first Mass Effect.
However, that’s not all the good news. What’s really good about this is that the moral standing of your character and the choices made in the first Mass Effect game goes right on into the second game. These choices also affect your second game, and if you save your file, you’ll basically have one long unbroken experience that seamlessly transitions into the next level.
Have you seen the teaser trailer for Mass Effect 2? You probably remember when the credits rolled at the end of the first Mass Effect. In the trailer, though, we get a close-up of a familiar armor suit, with “N7″ emblazoned on the chest. Ah-ha, it’s Shepherd, the main character.
Only, it’s not. Actually, a Geth soldier wears the suit, and we learn that Shepherd was killed in action. However, these accounts, as they say, were greatly exaggerated, and he’s actually back in Mass Effect 2, with a whole new threat to face.
What’s good to know about Mass Effect 2? Well, there are multiple endings, as in the first Mass Effect. This time, your primary mission is a suicide mission, which you will be told about at the beginning of the game. Shepherd and his team know this, too.
You and your team can live or die. This depends on what you decide throughout the game, and ultimately you’ll decide your own outcome. However, if your character does die in this latest Mass Effect, the second, rest assured that you can return in the third installment, Mass Effect 3.
